The Longevity Network Guide to 2017 Conferences

Last week’s Consumer Electronics Show(CES) in Las Vegas started out the 2017 conference circuit with a bang.  With all of the event offerings in the digital health space throughout the year, it is almost impossible to attend them all, which is why we’ve compiled this guide to conferences focused on the interplay of health, tech, and startups so you can start filling up that 2017 planner.

MD&M West, Feb 7-9, Anaheim, CA: This conference is all about medtech, and this year includes a summit exploring how smart technology impacts manufacturing.

HIMSS, Feb 19-23, Orlando, FL: This five day conference health and IT conference features a wide range of education opportunities and exhibitions. Speakers include IBM President and CEO Ginni Rometty and investor Kevin O’Leary.

SXSW Interactive Festival, March 10-14, Austin, TX: The conference portion of this massive event has a health track to network and discuss the latest trends and challenges in healthcare.

Aging in America, March 20-24, Chicago, IL: The American Society on Aging’s annual conference on issues of aging and quality of life for older adults.

LAUNCH Festival, April 6-7, San Francisco, CA: Billed as “the world’s largest startup event,” startups can apply to be featured in various verticals.  Events include founder/investor “speed dating” and Founder School.

AARP Innovation@50+ LivePitch, April 12-13, Mountain View, CA: This year’s LivePitch focuses on caregiving technology and fintech. Emerging startups pitch to investors and end users, receiving feedback on the spot.

Stanford Medicine X ED, April 22-23, Stanford, CA: The Medicine X program from Stanford University aims to create change on a global scale by placing the patient at the center of academic medicine.

Health Datapalooza, April 27-28, 2017, Washington, DC: This event brings together the public and private sectors to discuss issues and innovations around health care and health data.  This year’s co-chairs are Niall Brennan, MPP from the US Department of Health and Human Services and Amy Compton-Phillips, MD, EVP and Chief Clinical Officer of Providence Health & Services.

Milken Institute Global Conference, April 30-May 3, Los Angeles, CA: The Milken Institute, a non-profit think tank, holds this annual conference to bring together thought leaders to seek solutions to current challenges in finance, industry sectors, health, government, and education.

Inc. GrowCo, May 8-10, New Orlean, LA: An event from Inc. for entrepreneur and business leaders looking to grow their companies.  Attendees have the opportunity to attend keynote addresses, education workshops and networking events.

TechCrunch Disrupt, May 15-17, New York, NY: This event gathers innovative startups together for on-stage interviews and a Startup Battlefield competition, Hackathon, Startup Alley, and Hardware Alley.

MedCity INVEST, May 17-18, Chicago, IL: One of MedCity News’ network of conferences, INVEST brings together investors with corporate business development executives to give startups an opportunity to network and seek investment opportunities.  This year features the first Pitch Perfect Startup pitch contest.

CONNECTIONS Connected Home Conference, May 23-25, San Francisco, CA: This conference focuses on smart technology in the home, one of the biggest topics in tech this year.

The Startup Conference, May (dates TBA), Redwood City, CA: This event is all about entrepreneurs with topics focusing on funding, growth, acquisition, AI and machine learning, and AR/VR.  Learning opportunities are available for those just beginning their startup to entrepreneurs with existing organizations that are ready to grow.

VB Summit, June 5-6, Oakland, CA: This year’s VB Summit focuses on AI and machine learning- exploring the latest innovations and how they might be adopted in different fields.

MobileBeat, July 11-12, San Francisco, CA: VentureBeat’s mobile-centered conference will discuss AI this year, and its applications in mobile devices.

MedCity CONVERGE, Summer (dates and details TBA): An executive-level summit to explore the latest healthcare innovations.

Health 2.0 Fall Conference, October 1-4, Santa Clara, CA: Thought leaders come together to discuss the latest innovations in health technology and watch 150+ product demos.

Next Edge Summit, dates and details TBA: Speakers from all areas of healthcare discuss opportunities and challenges in the industry.

PCHAlliance Connected Health Conference, October 26-27, Boston, MA: Partners Connected Health (Partners Connected Health Symposium) and the Personal Connected Health Alliance (mHealth Summit) have joined their annual events this year “to create the largest event dedicated to digital and connected health.”

TEDMED, November 1-3, Palm Springs, CA: A medicine-focused conference in the spirit of the TED Talks features inspiring speakers, and hands-on activities, art exhibits and networking opportunities in The Hive Program.

Aging 2.0 OPTIMIZE, November 14-15, San Francisco, CA: This conference explores innovative trends in senior care and products, services, and ideas around aging.
